Blue Ridge Parkway Photo Gallery| Blue Ridge Photos The Blue Ridge Parkway is considered America's favorite drive and with one visit you will be sure to find out why. With such outstanding scenery and a variety of recreational opportunities you will discover why the Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the most popular units in the National Park System. The parkway boasts 350 miles of hiking trails and several recreation areas within its boundaries. Parking is permitted along the roadside, unless otherwise posted, so you may get out enjoy this special place whenever you see something interesting. The Parkway is 469 miles long and connects Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains National Parks. The drive is meant to be relaxing so the maximum speed on the Parkway is 45mph. If you plan to drive the entire Parkway give yourself at least 5 days to allow yourself to truly discover this special region of our country. Below are several photographs I have taken why driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and the many National Forests that surround the Parkway. If you have the opportunity I would encourage you to get out and explore this special place. I have included the approximate mile marker where each photo was taken when applicable.
